At Shan Netball Training Academy, quality coaching is an essential element in creating a positive experience for players. Our coaches play a crucial role in building the confidence, self-esteem, and skills of each player by serving as positive role models and treating all participants with fairness and respect.
To ensure the safety and well-being of our players, all of our coaches have undergone Enhanced DBS checks and are fully trained in safeguarding and first aid practices.
SHANAIDE BASQUINE
Shanaide is the passionate founder of Shan Netball Training Academy (SNTA), a qualified Level 2 coach with years of experience in the sport. She began her coaching career with England Netball as an NDCC and quickly advanced to full-time coaching roles in the UK and abroad.
Currently, Shanaide holds a coaching position with London Pulse as an Assistant Coach for the London Power Pulse U17 Academy, where she helps young players reach their full potential. Her dedication to growth extends to herself, regularly attending coaching workshops to stay at the forefront of the sport.
Shanaide has held coaching positions with Surrey Storm and Middlesex County, as well as serving as the Head Coach for the London Borough of Richmond U14 London Youth Games team. Her coaching roles also extend to leading the U12, U13, U14 and U13 & U14 Nationals squads at SNTA.
At SNTA, Shanaide focuses on developing players with tailored coaching that emphasizes both skill development and mental resilience. Her coaching philosophy is about empowering players to grow as athletes and individuals, fostering teamwork, discipline, and confidence on and off the court.
KARYN BAILEY
Karyn Bailey is a qualified Level 2 coach and former Australian International netball player with over 15 years of professional experience. Having played in the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia, Karyn transitioned to the UK Vitality Superleague, where she played for Surrey Storm and Saracens Mavericks before retiring in 2017.
Now, coaching the U14 age group at Shan Netball Training Academy (SNTA), Karyn brings her wealth of experience to developing the next generation of netball talent. Her coaching style blends elite-level insights with a passion for teaching the fundamentals, making her a favorite among players.
In addition to her role at SNTA, Karyn is actively coaching and playing at Putney Netball Club, and she also coaches at a local prep school, continuing to share her love for the sport with players of all ages.
Karyn’s rich playing background, combined with her commitment to coaching, makes her an invaluable mentor for aspiring athletes. Her experience at the highest levels of netball ensures that every player she works with receives expert guidance and support to reach their full potential.
MARY-CLARE RIDGE
TIFFANY BASSON
Tiffany’s love for netball began at the age of 7 in South Africa, and she’s been passionate about the sport ever since. Having played for various senior clubs in the UK, Tiffany now competes in local social leagues, continuing to stay active and involved in netball at all levels.
Her passion for the game has led her to coaching, and Tiffany is currently working towards her Level 2 coaching qualification and Umpiring C-Award to further her expertise. At Shan Netball Training Academy (SNTA), Tiffany will be coaching the U10, U11 and U12 squads.
Tiffany’s dedication to player development, combined with her deep love for netball, makes her a valuable coach at SNTA. Her goal is to inspire and empower players to grow in their skills, confidence, and passion for the sport.
GEORGIA PEXTON
Georgia is a Level 2 netball coach and a former England Roses Academy player with an impressive playing background. From the age of 15 to 21, she competed in the National Performance League (NPL), including being crowned champions with the Loughborough Lightning U21 squad.
With around 7 years of coaching experience, George is deeply passionate about providing young girls with opportunities to thrive in netball. Her dedication to developing the next generation of players has made a significant impact, most recently earning her the title of ‘Student Coach of the Year’ at the University of Birmingham Netball Club, where she played a key role in their success.
Now, as the Head Coach for the SNTA U11 squad, George brings her expertise and enthusiasm to training young players, helping them develop both their technical skills and confidence on the court. Additionally, George coaches the U13 and U14 National Squads, further expanding her reach within the academy.
George also hosts 1-2-1 sessions, offering personalized coaching to help players focus on specific areas of their game. Her coaching philosophy is all about empowering players and giving them the tools to succeed, whether they are starting their netball journey or looking to take their game to the next level.
JIYLA CUPIT
With over 25 years in the netball world, Jiyla is a seasoned Level 2 qualified coach whose experience spans across playing, coaching, and mentoring. Starting out at the grassroots level, Jiyla has played for several clubs and is currently competing at the regional level.
Jiyla’s coaching journey began with individual teams, and her passion for the sport has led her to work with players at junior, senior, and university levels. Her deep understanding of the game and dedication to developing talent has made her an invaluable asset to every team she coaches.
This season, Jiyla has taken on the role of Head Coach for the SNTA U12 National squad, where she leads the development of young, aspiring players. She also coaches the U11, U12, U13, and U14 National squads, ensuring each player receives expert guidance to reach their potential.
In addition to her role at SNTA, Jiyla is the Head Coach of the U13 Hub at London Pulse, where she continues to shape the development of the next generation of players. Her commitment to nurturing talent and her passion for coaching make her an invaluable part of the London Pulse coaching team.
With her extensive experience and dedication to developing players at all levels, Jiyla is helping athletes grow not only as netball players but also as confident, resilient individuals.
JESSICA FOWLER
Jess is a qualified Level 2 coach and C Award umpire with a strong background in both playing and coaching netball. Having played the sport from a young age, Jess currently competes for a local senior netball club, continuing to nurture her love for the game.
Her coaching journey began at the University of Exeter, where she served as the Head Coach for various BUCS teams. Over the past seven years, Jess has gained extensive experience coaching at multiple levels, including junior, University, B2N, and performance levels. This year, she joined the London Borough of Wandsworth U14 London Youth Games Coaching Team, where she continues to contribute to the development of young players.
In addition to her work with SNTA, Jess is the Head of Netball at an independent girls’ school in South West London, where she oversees the netball program and ensures that students receive top-notch coaching and opportunities to excel in the sport.
This season, Jess will also be stepping in as Head Coach for the U15 and U16 squads at Shan Netball Training Academy, where she will be guiding these athletes to develop their skills and achieve their netball goals.
Jess's diverse coaching experience, combined with her passion for empowering players, makes her an invaluable part of the netball community. She’s dedicated to helping players at all levels develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.
EMMA JANE STOWE
Emma has been playing netball since she was just 6 years old, with a rich playing history that includes competing at the county level, in Indoor Action Netball, and for various senior clubs in South Africa. With over 8 years of coaching experience, Emma is a qualified Level 1 coach and a C-Award umpire, making her an experienced mentor for players of all ages.
Her passion for netball has now brought her to the UK, where she is excited to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for the game at Shan Netball Training Academy (SNTA). Emma is currently working towards her UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification to further enhance her coaching skills and expertise.
At SNTA, Emma runs and organizes the Junior Shan Netball Camps, where she helps young athletes develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment. She also leads the First Steps Program, guiding new players through the fundamentals of netball.
In addition to her roles at SNTA, Emma is the Head of Netball at her school, where she oversees the netball program and continues to inspire the next generation of players.
Emma’s passion for the sport, combined with her diverse experience, makes her an excellent coach dedicated to helping players develop confidence, skill, and a lifelong love for netball.
JACQUI NAKIWALA
Jacqui has been passionate about netball since the age of 5. Starting her journey as a GS and GA, she later transitioned to playing GK/GD in secondary school and as part of the A netball team at Bangor University. Her extensive playing experience has shaped her coaching style, making her an expert in the defensive areas of the game.
Jacqui has coached players of all ages, from 4-year-olds to adults, developing a strong ability to connect with athletes at every stage of their netball journey. This season, Jacqui will be heading the U10 age group at Shan Netball Training Academy (SNTA), where she’ll bring her passion for developing young players and her defensive expertise to the squad.
In addition to her role with the U10s, Jacqui is the Head of the Shan Swans Development Program, where she focuses on nurturing players' skills and confidence in a supportive and fun environment. Known for her fun, encouraging, and helpful coaching style, Jacqui creates an atmosphere where players feel motivated to learn and grow.
Jacqui’s dedication to both the technical and emotional development of her players makes her an outstanding coach who brings out the best in everyone she works with.
